Christopher James Young (born November 25, 1981) is an American country music singer and songwriter. He has released five studio albums, with his most recent titled, A.M.. His second album, I'm Comin' Over, was released on April 9, 2007. He co-wrote Miranda Lambert's 2008 Number One hit "The House That Built Me", the top 20 single "Helluva Life", "Better Man" for Taylor Swift's album Speak Now in 2010 and the 2012 Grammy-nominated "Lights On". He also produced the 2009 album I'm Still Here for Reba McEntire.

Early Life

After graduating from high school in 1999, Chris Young moved to Nashville, Tennessee to pursue a musical career. He soon met his future manager, Rick Burch, who helped him get signed to RCA Nashville. His first album was released on April 15, 2004 titled Chris Young the album featured the singles "Drinkin' Me Lonely", "I Can't Wait" and "You're Gonna Love Me". The following year in 2005, Young signed to Sugar Hill Records, where he recorded his second album titled I'm Comin' Over. The first single released from the album was "I'm Comin' Over (The Love I'm Givin' You)", which was written by Dan Hill.

 

I'm Comin' Over went on to peak at number 6 on the Top Country Albums chart and peaked at number 6 on the Top Heatseekers chart in 2007. The second single under his label was "Helluva Life", which peaked at number 24 on the Hot country Songs chart. The third single released in 2005 was "Better Man" which peaked at number 39 in 2006. The fourth single was "You and Tequila", which peaked at number 99 in 2007. The fifth single from the album was "Lights On", which peaked at number 51 in 2009. In February 2007, Young released a music video for his song "Helluva Life" from the album I'm Comin' Over. The song features background vocals from Pat Green and was shot in Grandview, Tennessee. In the same month he also released a music video for his song "(Just to Be with You)" which was produced by Tony Brown and was shot in Nashville, Tennessee also.

Career

In 2007, Chris Young signed to Big Machine Records. His fourth studio album titled A.M.. was released on September 3, 2007. The first single released off the album was "I'm Still Here", which peaked at number 25 on the Hot Country Songs chart and number 30 on the US Billboard Hot 100. The second single was "Before I Met You" which peaked at number 76. 70 and 48 respectively on the Country Singles and Country Airplay charts, also peaking at number 86 on the Adult Top 40 chart.

 

In March 2008, Chris Young supported Kenny Chesney's tour along with Brad Paisley, who made his first appearance as an opening act for Chesney. The following month in April 2008 Young recorded a duet with Reba McEntire for her album Strong Enough.
