The Dallas Mavericks are an American professional basketball team that competes in the National Basketball Association as a member of the Western Conference. The Mavericks play their home games at American Airlines Center. The team was founded in 1980, as an expansion team. In 2000, internet personality Mark Cuban bought the team. Cuban, who is also a television personality, notable for ABC’s “Shark Tank” has boosted the team’s popularity immensely. In 2011, the Mavs won their lone championship, led by Dirk Nowitzki and Jason Kidd.
