The Golden State Warriors are an American professional basketball team that competes in the National Basketball Association as a member of the Western Conference. The Warriors play their home games at the Chase Center in San Francisco, California. The team was founded in 1946 as the Philadelphia Warriors. They relocated to the bay area in 1962, becoming the San Francisco Warriors. The team has been known as the Golden State Warriors since 1971.

In 2009 the Warriors drafted Stephen Curry with the seventh pick in the NBA draft. Curry is the greatest shooter in NBA history and has led the franchise to a significant amount of success throughout his decorated career. In 2011, the team drafted Klay Thompson with the eleventh pick in the draft. Thompson is also one of the sport’s greatest shooters, and along with Curry has formed the “Splash Brothers”. Curry is a two time MVP and seven time all-star while Thompson is a five time all-star. In 2012-13 Thompson and Curry led the Warriors to their first playoff berth since 2007. The next season, the two set a then NBA record for the most three pointers in a season by a duo. In 2014-15 the Warriors won their first championship since 1974. In 2015-16, the Warriors finished 73-9, which is the greatest regular season record of all time. They followed up the greatest regular season with two more championships, and then lost in the finals the next season. The Warriors haven’t reached the playoffs since 2019, but expectations remain high as Thompson returns after missing the last two seasons. Golden State still has Draymond Green, a pillar of the championship teams, and Steve Kerr, who has been the coach since 2015.
