Los Angeles Chargers

The Los Angeles Chargers are an American Football team, competing in the National Football League. Established in 1960 in Los Angeles as an American Football League team, the Chargers moved to San Diego after one season. In 1970, as a result of the AFL-NFL merger, the Chargers joined the NFL. Throughout their time in the NFL, the Chargers have played their games in the NFC West. The Chargers have won the division ten times, most recently in 2009, when they were led by a high powered offense that featured Philip Rivers, LaDanian Tomlinson, Vincent Jackson, and Antonio Gates. The Chargers have represented the AFC once in the Super Bowl, that being in 1994 when they lost to the 49ers by a score of 49-26. In 2017, the Chargers relocated back to Los Angeles, following the Los Angeles Rams departure from St. Louis the year before. Along with the Rams, the Chargers are set to play their second year at SoFi Stadium. The two teams will be welcoming fans for the first time this season. (The 2020 season was played without fans at the stadium due to the Covid-19 Pandemic) The state of the art venue will provide a one of a kind experience that NFL fans around the country won’t be able to get elsewhere. The 5 billion dollar stadium includes a 70,000 square foot videboard, as well as 5G internet and a host of incredible food vendors.

Despite the lack of success over the last decade, the Chargers are ushering in a new era of football that looks to make its mark this year. Head coach Brandon Staley looks to lead a team with significant improvements back to the playoffs. The offense features third year quarterback Justin Herbert. The former rookie of the year is poised to take a massive step forward in leading the offense, which contains potent weapons in Austin Ekeler, Keenan Allen, and Mike Williams. The defense will be sparked by the return of all-pro safety Derwin James as well as fierce edge rushers Joey Bosa and Khalil Mack.
