New York Yankees

The New York Yankees are one of the most successful professional sports teams in the United States. The Yankees are a Major League Baseball (MLB) team based in New Your City, New York. The Yankees were founded in Baltimore, Maryland in 1901 as the Baltimore Orioles, however they are not related to the current Baltimore Orioles. The Orioles moved to New York in 1903 as the New York Highlanders. The Highlanders were renamed to the Yankees in 1913. The team is owned by Yankee Global Enterprises, LLC which is controlled by the estate of the late George Steinbrenner. The current owner is Hal Steinbrenner and the general manager is Brian Cashman. Known for their pinstripes on their uniforms, the Yankees are one of the most recognizable teams in the world.

The Yankees hold the MLB record for most World Series titles with 27 as well as the most American League Pennants with 40. Notable Yankees Hall of Fame greats include, Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Joe DiMaggio, Mickey Mantle, Yogi Berra, Mariano Rivera, and Derek Jeter. The Yankees have the most storied and successful franchise in baseball history and are looking to return to their position at the top of the baseball ranks.

The current manager of the Yankees is Aaron Boone. Some of the best players on the Yankees roster include Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton, Gerrit Cole, and DJ LeMahieu.

Where do the Yankees play their home games?

  • The Yankees play at Yankee Stadium in Concourse, Bronx, New York City. This stadium replaced the original Yankee Stadium in 2009. It is the second-largest stadium in the MLB, with a seating capacity of over 50,000. The new Yankee Stadium is one of the most expensive stadiums ever built.

Who is the Yankees biggest rival?

  • The Yankees biggest rival is the Boston Red Sox. This rivalry goes back decades and is one of the most hated rivalries in all of sports. The Yankees and Red Sox always take their series to heart and have played against each other in some intense playoff matchups. Both teams have been competing in the American Leagues (AL) for over 100 seasons.
